Kirklees Police have released images of a suspect as part of an ongoing investigation into a theft and two attempted thefts.
The Kirklees District CID would like to speak to anyone who may recognize the man’s clothing in the photo or has information that could help identify him.
The footage was taken during an attempted robbery at a newsagent at around 5:10 a.m. in Holmfirth on April 10, in which a suspect threatened staff with an ax. He fled with money and cigarettes.
Officers linked the offense to an attempted theft at a post office and convenience store on Manchester Road in Linthwaite at around 3:40 a.m., also on April 10, in which a suspect also threatened staff with an ax. He left empty-handed after those present refused to give him any money.
It is also linked to the theft of a BMW car from Berry Brow in Huddersfield from April 10 which was then used in an attempted ram raid on a convenience store in Golcar around 4 a.m. on the same date.
PC Josh Lowther of Kirklees CID said: “We are continuing to investigate four related offenses from April 10 and have issued a CCTV still of a suspect stolen in Holmfirth.
“While the man’s face is clearly not visible, it is possible that someone could recognize the individual by his clothing and demeanor, and I would ask anyone who can help our investigation to contact us.
“Anyone who can assist the investigation in any way is asked to contact Kirklees CID on 101 with reference to crime number 13210175843.
“Information can also be provided online at www.westyorkshire.police.uk/101livechat or anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
