Free reusable pocket ashtrays offered at the Langford Fire Station
Langford Fire Rescue is once again calling on people not to drop their cigarette butts to the ground after teams responded to five preventable fires in as many days.
âGarden beds are for flowers, not cigarette ends,â the department wrote in a social media post.
He has put up signs across town whenever he detects a fire started by a cigarette, saying “Preventable fire has started here.” and âNever throw away your lit cigarettes. No ifs, no butts. “
Greater Victoria’s fire danger warning is currently between moderate and high, according to the BC Wildfire Service. Higher temperatures, such as those forecast for the coming weekend, may also contribute to a higher fire risk.
Langford Fire Rescue offers free reusable pocket ashtrays at its station and encourages people to drop by and pick one up.
