A Weldon man is facing drug trafficking and other charges following a burglary Sunday morning at the Smith Church Road DrugCo, the Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported.
Chief Bobby Martin said Derrick Roberts was charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property, theft after break and enter, trafficking in opium and three counts of possession of 100 dosage units of Annex III.

According to the report, he remained in the Halifax County Detention Center on $70,000 bond and was due to appear in District Court for the first time today.
David Silver, whose last known address was in Weldon, was charged with criminal aiding and abetting for driving Roberts after the burglary. He was given $5,000 bond and was also due to appear in district court today.
On Sunday shortly before 10:45 a.m., the pharmacy reported a burglary and the theft of a large quantity of prescription drugs and numerous cartons of cigarettes.
Several hours after the report, Investigator C. Batchelor had identified a suspect and began attempting to locate him.
Batchelor developed information on the person’s whereabouts and at around 5pm on Monday carried out a traffic stop just inside Weldon town limits. The vehicle was operated by Silver and Batchelor also met Roberts.
Inside the vehicle were drugs stolen from the pharmacy. After speaking with the men, officers attended a residence in Weldon and located the rest of the drugs stolen from the pharmacy as well as some of the stolen cigarettes.
