P300-K cigarettes, shabu seized at two checkpoints

ANOTHER more than 300,000 pesos of contraband tobacco and shabu were intercepted by Davao Task Force personnel at Sirawan and Lasang checkpoints on July 5.

Capt. John Louie Dema-ala, spokesman for Task Force Davao, said at around 10:35 a.m. authorities arrested four people carrying a total of 550 reams of contraband Cannon menthol cigarettes with an estimated street value of 275,000P inside a metal. Gray Toyota Fortuner with plate number LGB 881 at the Eden checkpoint in Toril.

The suspects have been identified as Al-Sarif S Nuh, 22, married; Alyasid S Nuh, 34, married; Jole A Arad, 45; and Juluie Jie Sahisa, 19, single, all residents of 1st Crumb St., Purok Centennial, Zone 1, Digos City.

The suspects allegedly violated Republic Act 4712, an act amending certain sections of the Philippine Tariffs and Customs Code.

Just 15 minutes later, staff from TF Davao and Davao City Police Bureau arrested

Edwin Campus Duhaylungsod, 38, married a resident of Jerome St. Agdao, Lasang checkpoint.

He was driving a red Suzuki Raider with temporary plate number 1101-798195 on his way to town when authorities found in his possession seven packets of alleged shabu weighing 4.44 grams and with an estimated street value of 71,040 pesos. .

Task Force Davao Commander Col. Darren E. Comia praised the troops’ diligence and Davaoeños’ cooperation in catching the suspects.
